No Mom is an island

“No Mom is an Island” came to me in my first year of Motherhood…

I often felt alone, and adrift, navigating my deepest wish, and my hardest truth.

Motherhood is difficult.

It’s sticky, and sleepless, it’s confusion, guilt, and questioning.

It’s also a great joy, that can go without saying, as we all know our babies are our hearts. But in those dark moments of the early days, who kept me floating, were my Mom friends.

Being Creative together kept me sane.

Keeping our hands busy, making things for markets, all the while connecting over the struggles and sharing the joy that is raising these babes.

I can’t image what that first year would have been like if it hadn’t been for all the support I had from the incredible women in my life.

This ongoing photography collection that portrays motherhood,

Is dedicated to you all. YOU on the other end of the phone, answering facebook posts after bedtime, pouring bottomless cups of tea, encouraging my creativity, reminding me I am good enough and for keeping me sane.

I would love to continue to capture and collect portraits for this series, contact me if you are interested in letting me take your photo.
